I had always thought I wanted to be
On a stage in front of everyone watching me
The way it makes you feel- like everything you say is real
Like maybe you could change things
But now I'm in the dark underneath a solitary light
Trying to fight this metaphor for my life
And the feeling this light I hid behind
Is making me blind
When you're beneath a lonely spotlight
Everything seems to be so bright
Every eye turns to watch your anguish
Thinking everything's alright
When You find you're living in a spotlight
Everybody seems to know your name
But if they can't see beneath the surface
Are they to blame?
Open your eyes!
Listen to the radio playing in your soul, now, and
Don't be so surprised
To hear your voice

This is how it feels waking from a sleep
To find beauty that's anything but skin-deep
It's not on my tv, or in the dozen magazines
Littering the landscape of my dreams
But I can feel it on my face, feel it in the sun
I can hear it in the voice that's calling me to come
And just be
Who I was made to be
